The Nature of Lostness

On the table—
Little dishes to lie upon,
trinkets finding homes
in your hands
and ears
and around your neck
left behind on an autumn path
they lie untouched,
do they die in the stillness of being left behind?
Or do they become a part of an unseen world
where trees remain unseen
far from the trail?
Where unphotographed creatures sleep and play.
Where the wildflowers and mushrooms bloom,
where myths and magic are an everyday matter.
